Patience and Success

So after the last trip to the auto-parts store to get the wrong pulley puller, I went back and swapped it out for the correct one. Today we had a chance to try it out.

We were able to get the crank pulley removed! Finally!

So, in case you lost track we were trying to remove the oil pan, to replace the seal, and check the condition inside the engine. We got hung up, since we were unable to remove the frame stabilizer bar which prevents you from removing the oil pan on a '66 Mustang. We then decided to do the next easiest thing, remove the belts, and pulleys. This turned into another whole project.

Here's how it looks in the crank case. Not too bad.
The oil pan was not too bad. Most of the oil had drained out, and what was left was mostly "good oil" pretty fluid. There was a little "sludge" at the bottom, but only a tablespoon or so. There were also some solids, looks like caked dried oil of some sort. It broke up easily in my fingers. There were no metal chips or pieces, which is a very good sign for our engine.
